Kissing
Jessica Stein
by Kris Williams
I was wary about seeing Kissing Jessica Stein. One of my friends told me it was an independant film about lesbians. I thought "oh great, I'll bet its a winner". An independant film about lesbians is as common as an independant film about independant film. So I walked into the theater expecting to be dissapointed. I was not. This film couldn't have been more beautifully done. It was very mature and the acting was phenominal. The subject matter of gays and Jews can be done very badly as there are easy stereotypes to fall in to. But Kissing Jessica Stein was anything but cheap. I applaud Heather Juergensen and Jennifer Westfeldt (who both played the two main characters and also wrote the screenplay) for the sweet, honest, and very realistic ending. I loved this movie and I reccomend it to anyone. My mother would love it.
